Will a BAKFlip and a BAKBox Work With a 2019 Toyota Tundra?

Toyota Tundra Owner: Hello, you had contacted me by the internet about a BAKFlip for my truck; a 2019 Toyota Tundra.


Peter: Okay. Which BAKFlip model?

Toyota Tundra Owner: MX4.


Peter: Okay. Have we sent you a quote?

Peter: Yes. Do you have some questions or were you trying to place an order?

Peter: Yes.

Toyota Tundra Owner: My son had a BAKFlip and he liked it.

Peter: Yeah, this is great. You're right where you want to be with the MX4.

Toyota Tundra Owner: MX4, okay. I was also going to inquire about a toolbox that goes under the lid. Do you sell those?

Peter: Yeah, the popular version is the BAKBox. It's also made by BAK. I've got that one, and when you get the same deal on that is you would the cover. It's free shipping and there's no sales tax if you're ordering from outside of Arizona.

Toyota Tundra Owner: Okay. What is that BAK box made of? Is it metal?

Peter: Yeah, it's aluminum.

Toyota Tundra Owner: Aluminum? Okay. And now my truck has this rail along the inside where you connect clamps for cables.

Peter: Right.

Toyota Tundra Owner: It has a little railing. Does it take a special BAKFlip to fit that?

Peter: No, it's just a different hardware kit. I know which one you need. What was the bed length?

Toyota Tundra Owner: Oh, I have five and a half foot bed.

Peter: Okay. All right and are you going to go with the toolbox as well?

Toyota Tundra Owner: Yeah.

Toyota Tundra Owner: And this attachment with this railing, I mean, it just takes a special kit to attach it or?

Rebate Redemption for a Retrax XR tonneau cover for a 2018 GMC Sierra

GMC Sierra Owner: I talked to you guys about a week and a half ago or so about a cover for a truck, and it looks like now that they're doing a special with the Retrax, the XR that comes with a rebate that you can get the Yakima racks to go with it.

Peter: That's right.

GMC Sierra Owner: How do I do something to set that up, or is it something I do over the phone with you or online? How does that work?

Peter: Yeah, I can take care of it with you. What truck was it for?

GMC Sierra Owner: A 2018 GMC Sierra.

Peter: What's the bed length?


GMC Sierra Owner: It's the short bed, the five, eight.

Peter: Did we send you a quote?

GMC Sierra Owner: Yes.

Peter: Ok, I can take care of it with you right now if you'd like.

GMC Sierra Owner: Ok. And then for the rebate, I just take the receipt and mail it in with the rebate that's online from them, and then they send it separately for the rack or how does that work?

Peter: That's right. Exactly. After we complete your order we will ship your tonneau cover to you, but you will redeem the rebate directly through Retrax.

Peter: So again, that's the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 short bed?

GMC Sierra Owner: Yes, and I would like the Retrax Pro XR.

Peter: It's Retrax directly since they're the manufacturer.

Retrax Pro XR for a 2015 Ford F350 with a short bed

F-350 Owner: I was just trying to get a information on a tonneau cover by Retrax.


Sean: Are you looking at the PRO or the ONE?

F-350 Owner: The one that I can put a bike rack on.

Sean: On the Pro XR right now, they're doing a deal where they give you Yakima Jetstream Load Bars if you buy that cover. What kind of truck is it?

F-350 Owner: 2015 Ford F350 with a short bed.

Sean: All right. Let me see here. Yeah it's like $500 in savings when you get that.

F-350 Owner: Okay. So if I do that, how does it work? You would send me the cover but I would go see them to get the bars?

Sean: Correct. All you do is go to their site. Go to at the top where it says "Buy Retrax XR Get a Free Jetstream Load Bar". Click on that. Then it will take you to a form you need to fill out. They'll send you another form in your email you actually mail in. And then they'll send you the bars. Because after you get your cover, they're going to want your serial number. They're going to want your invoice, which all that you'll have. You just submit all that information and then they send it to ya.


F-350 Owner: How long does it take to ship and all that?

Sean: For this particular one it will be built out of North Dakota. So you're probably looking at 3 days build time. And then to get to you, you're looking at probably another 4 days. So I'd say within 7 days you should have it. That's business days.


F-350 Owner: Okay, cool. I'll go ahead and do it.


Sean: Okay. One second here. Let me put this in for you. Again that's a 2015 F350, 6.9 bed, the short bed?

F-350 Owner: Yep.

Sean: All right man. I will get that going. Like I said, it will only take 2-3 days to build and then about another 4 to make it to ya. So, they do ship FedEx. I appreciate your business. Have a great day!

Ordering the Correct Size BAKFlip G2 for a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500

Ram Owner: I went to your website and was looking into another tonneau cover to order. And I got a couple questions. If you look at your records, I ordered for a RAM 1500 about five, six weeks ago.

Peter: Okay.


Ram Owner: It came in and it was the wrong size. My son told me the wrong length of the bed. It was a BAKflip G2.

Peter: Okay.


Ram Owner: And you know, as soon as I pulled the first rail out of the box and put it on his truck, I could see that we were about six to eight inches too short. So of course I measured his truck bed at that point and said "Yeah, my son gave me the wrong bed size."

Peter: Right.


Ram Owner: But I also noticed that the width, the width for the cover itself was too short. It wasn't wide enough. In other words, the holes that are designed to lock the cover onto the side rails at the front, at the leading edge was considerably too short, probably upwards of four inches too short. So is there a difference in the width of a bed between a 226207 and a 226203, which is for the six foot four inch bed?

Peter: Every bed is different. So I guess it's kind of a short answer. But every bed is different. Did we end you getting you the correct size?

Ram Owner: No, I have not ordered the replacement because after finding out what the return policy was, I decided to keep it and try to sell it myself. It was going to cost me too much to return it.

Peter: Right, okay.


Ram Owner: So I'm definitely not going to order another one until I know for sure it's going to fit.

Peter: Right, I gotcha. So let me see. What was the year, make and model?

Ram Owner: It's a 2017 Dodge RAM 1500. And the original one I ordered was for the five foot seven inch bed without the RAM box.

Peter: Okay.

Ram Owner: And I looked on your site for the six foot four inch bed and the model number is a BAK 226203. So the reason I'm calling is to make sure that the width of the 203 is wider than the 207.

Peter: Yes, it'll be a perfect fit. Every bed is different. Even when they're shorter. All of the appropriate hardware and shims and everything will be there. So yeah, it'll be a perfect fit.

Ram Owner: And if it's not a perfect fit, are you guys going to return it at no cost to me?

Peter: Yeah, if there was a manufacturer defect or something like that. That would be the only time it wouldn't be a perfect fit.


Ram Owner: I'm a little skeptical. I mean, I would think that the only difference in a bed would be the length, but you're telling me that no, the beds can be wider too. That's what you're saying.

Peter: It can, it can depending on ... But the point is that you don't have to worry because the manufacturer knows the exact dimension. And so when they associate with a part number, it's going to be a perfect fit, unless in the rare, very rare case that there was some sort of manufacturer defect with that one specific cover that was sent out ... And that can happen from time to time. Like they, for whatever reason, in manufacturing there was some defect that made it longer or wider or something like that, obviously we'll take care of that. Short of that, it should be a perfect fit.


Ram Owner: Okay. Can you verify that this is the correct model, the 203? That's for a '17 RAM 1500 with a six foot four inch long bed without the RAM box.

Peter: Box. Yes, this is it.

Ram Owner: Okay, let me go and order it.

Where Can I Find Shipping Information Regarding My Tonneau Cover Order?

Dodge Ram Owner: Hey, I'm calling about my order. Do you by chance know if the tonneau cover has been shipped yet?

Shawn: Yeah, it should have been shipped yesterday.

Dodge Ram Owner: Troy called me but he didn't give me a tracking number. I'm trying to get an idea where it is.

Shawn: What did Troy say?

Dodge Ram Owner: He's sending just the cover out. He said they're making it, and they're sending it all right away or something like that.

Shawn: I haven't heard from them yet as far as tracking so I'm sending them a email right now.

Dodge Ram Owner: I just left a message. But they're sending one out. Hey, I've got a question.

Shawn: What's up?

Dodge Ram Owner: He did say to get rid of the other one that was sent to me. It's 58 1/2 inches, are there beds that size?

Shawn: What kind of truck do you have again?

Dodge Ram Owner: Mine's the Dodge. It's the Ram.

Shawn: Oh, no. There's not going to be anything like that. A full size truck with a bed that short, no.

Dodge Ram Owner: I was just wondering. I don't think anybody would buy it because it's kind of short, and it doesn't have the rails and the front piece.

Dodge Ram Owner: Here's my next question. Do they sell rails and that cover for that? Can you buy rails separately?

Shawn: Yeah, you can buy rails separately.
