Is There a Tonneau Cover That Utilizes The Deck Rail System on a 2019 Toyota Tundra CrewMax?

Toyota Owner: I just bought a new truck, 2019 Toyota Tundra CrewMax. I have the deck rail system in there and I wanted to know if you had a hard folding cover that utilizes that system, that I don't have to move the deck rail system. I was looking at the, the BAKFlip, I think it's MX4, but you have to move that down to ... I think you can order the brackets, but I know from Toyota OEM they have a cover that utilizes that track that's there already.

Shaun: Okay. Let me see here. You know, Undercover uses it, but then you lose functionality of your tie-downs. You can't move them once a cover is installed.

Toyota Owner: Okay, I see what you're saying. So you could flip it open, but wherever the cleats are, that's where they stay or you can't use them at all?

Shaun: Yeah. Wherever the cleats are, is where they stay. Essentially what's going to happen is there are these little clamps ... The little block goes inside of the channel of your rails, that you have currently. And then so you're going to have three different blocks, in three different locations. So essentially you can move those tie-downs within the space of those blocks, but obviously you can't move it past that.

Toyota Owner: Yeah, yeah, that's no problem. I just didn't want to move around my ... drop the tracks or anything like that.

Shaun: Okay. What year is it again?

Toyota Owner: It's a 2019 Toyota Tundra CrewMax, the short bed.

Shaun: Okay.

Toyota Owner: You see, that's the other thing, some of these covers, they list 5.5 and then 5.7

Shaun: Yeah, I know, it's all the same. All right, so Undercover has a few different options. What price range do you want to stay in?

Toyota Owner: I know they're probably close to a grand. So I guess somewhere in that eight to a thousand dollar price range

Shaun: How much do you think you're going to be using this cover, man? Is it going to be every day? As a daily driver, contractor?

Toyota Owner: No. Basic driving back and forth to work. I'm not really expecting to haul a lot of stuff. Every once in awhile I'll run to Home Depot.

Shaun: Well, they have two different things for you and they're both matte black. One's more of a shiny finish, or not shiny but smooth finish. And then one's more of a rough finish. Now the rough finish is Line-X material on there. So it's scratch proof.

Toyota Owner: What is that like? Oh, it's scratch proof. Okay.

Shaun: Bedliner. You know spray in bed liners? It's actually on top of the cover.

Toyota Owner: Like a Rhino type finish.

Shaun: Right. Yeah. They spray their panels now before they assemble the cover. So they're actually pretty awesome, man. I actually worked for them for a decade and the salesman had one on his truck when they first did one and he took a key to it, and went back and forth and could not scratch this cover.

Toyota Owner: Okay. That that's like four panels, or three?

Shaun: For your truck, since it's a short bed, it's gonna be three panels and then you have the solid a-panel. Unlike the BAKFlip, the BAKFlip has a composite a-panel, so it's the same as the cover. The Undercover is solid.

Toyota Owner: Okay. And what other options do I have with ... And that utilizes the track where it is?

Shaun: Correct. The other one that I was going to suggest to you, and both of these have a five-year warranty, the other one when I was going to suggest was the Ultra Flex. It's matte black finish, it does not have the Line-X on it, but it has pretty much all the other features. It also has a carpeted underside, and it's not really carpet, it's BedRug is what it is. And the BedRug material is basically a plastic but it feels like a carpet. It's got a nicer finish. I believe it comes with a set of lights, so it'll come with a bed light as well.

Toyota Owner: All right. Could you give me the model numbers of both because I just wanted to take a look at them online.

Shaun: Sure. It's UX42008 and AX42008.

Toyota Owner: Okay, and I'll give you a call back. I just want to take a look at them. And those are the only two that utilizes the back rail system or the only ones that you recommend, really?

Shaun: Those are the only two that use it and the only two I recommend. You could go for their cheap version, which is the Flex. But honestly, you're going to want one of the other ones. Let me know if you have any other questions!

What's the Best Tonneau Cover for Heavy Snow and Hail for a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro?

Tacoma Owner: I would like to order a couple things through you guys if I can, please.

Peter: Sure, I can get you going here. What truck is it for?

Tacoma Owner: This is for a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro, 5.2 inch bed.

Peter: Okay. What's the first item?

Tacoma Owner: Well, I'd like to get a Bedrug for that vehicle, and that would be the complete Bedrug; I think it's BRY19DCK.

Peter: I'll pull that up here.

Tacoma Owner: Okay. Just to make sure it fits, and that it's the right one.

Peter: Okay the full liner, I've got it here. What's the next item?

Tacoma Owner: Well, this is where I need a little bit of professional advice, okay?

Peter: Okay, sure.

Tacoma Owner: I'm looking at particularly the BakFlip F1, and I don't know if I want to go with the F1 or if I want to do the Undercover Ultra Flex. What is your opinion? We get heavy snow here, we get a lot of hail.

Peter: I would definitely go with the F1. I really, I like the Ultra Flex cover, but it's aluminum, and when you're dealing with hail, it will dent. You'll get those little dimples. And the F1 holds up to hail so much better than the aluminum covers. So I think you're right where you want to be with the F1. And I can do that one with free shipping on everything, and there's no sales tax.

Tacoma Owner: Oh, that's fantastic. That is fantastic, thank you.

Which Retrax Cover is The Aluminum Retractable With The Matte Black Finish?

Toyota Tundra Owner: I'm calling because I want to buy a tonneau cover for my truck.

Peter: Which cover are you looking at?

Toyota Tundra Owner: The Retrax Pro.

Peter: Okay, the Retrax Pro MX, got it. What truck is it for?

Toyota Tundra Owner: It's for a 2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.

Peter: I just emailed you a price quote. It's free shipping and there's no sales tax if you are ordering from outside of Arizona.

Toyota Tundra Owner: That's for the Retrax Pro, right?

Peter: Yes, you want the one with the matte finish, right? The Retrax Pro MX is the aluminum retractable with the matte black finish.

Toyota Tundra Owner: Yeah, that's the bed covers right? From Retrax?

Peter: Yes. Did you want to get that ordered today?

Toyota Tundra Owner: Yes. I'll go ahead and get that cover ordered now.

Peter: I just need the bed length.

Toyota Tundra Owner: Oh, it's a five foot six bed.

Peter: And do you have the rails in the bed?

Toyota Tundra Owner: Yes, I do have the rails.

Peter: O.K. you're going to get a confirmation email here in just a second. Allow about five days for delivery. And you're all set.

Toyota Tundra Owner: I also want to ask you about the deal that I got on my email that if I bought the bed liner, I can have a free gift if it is for a $95 value.

Peter: Yes. It's the tailgate seal. I'll include that.

How Does The BAKFlip MX4 Compare To The Extang Encore?

Toyota Tundra Owner: You and I communicated by email regarding possible Tonneau cover for my 2019 Toyota Tundra.

Peter: Okay.

Toyota Tundra Owner: I've been going back and forth between the BAKflip MX4 and ... what's the other brand that has the cover that can flip from the front as well and has kind of a little lock there?

Peter: That's Extang. The Extang Encore.

Toyota Tundra Owner: Yeah ... Help me out, what are some of the differences, advantages of one or the other. Basically, how does the BAKFlip MX4 compare to the Extang Encore?

Peter: The MX4 can fold all the way up and secure behind the cab so you have full use of your bed when you need to. The Extang doesn't do that. The MX4 sits flush inside the bedrail, so it's super low profile.

Toyota Tundra Owner: Okay. And the Encore?

Peter: The Encore sits up on top, so it's a higher profile cover. Obviously the main difference that you just mentioned, that you can open it from right behind the cab. The MX4 can't do that. I mean, they're both really well reviewed. It just kind of depends on what you're using it for.

Toyota Tundra Owner: I had a BAKFlip before on my other truck. I had a G2, I guess it was, several years ago. I had an 02 Tundra and I think I got that probably 2008 or 9, something like that. Really loved it.

Peter: Yeah.

Toyota Tundra Owner: I understand that the MX4 is probably a little lighter perhaps. I think that the G2, it could get difficult, you know, sometimes trying to flip those things open. So, I'd be leaning toward the MX4 then. I know you emailed me a quote. Where are we at with the MX4 vs the Encore for pricing at this point?

Peter: So, you have a 2019 Tundra? What's the bed length?

Toyota Tundra Owner: Correct. 2019 Toyota Tundra and it's five and a half foot bed.

Peter: Do you have the Deck Rail System in the bed?

Toyota Tundra Owner: No, I don't have a Deck Rail System.

Peter: That quote I sent you for the MX4 is still valid. The Encore would only be $30 more than the MX4. It's free shipping on both and there's no sales tax if you're ordering from outside of Arizona.

Toyota Tundra Owner: Yeah, I think I want to go with the MX4.

Peter: Okay, I'll get you all set up for shipping, and then you're good to go!

How Do I Know if I Have a Deck Rail System on My 2019 Toyota Tundra?

Toyota Tundra Owner: I had sent an email to you regarding the BAKFlip MX4.

Peter: Okay. What truck was it for?

Toyota Tundra Owner: It's for a 2019 Toyota Tundra double cab with the six and a half foot bed.

Peter: Okay. Were we talking this afternoon on email?

Toyota Tundra Owner: No, I think you sent an email, but I actually didn't send you an email. I guess I must have filled out the form on your site? I put my email address in your site, and it came up with an offer.

Peter: Okay. Yeah, I can honor that price. Also, it's free shipping and there's no sales tax if you're ordering from outside of Arizona.

Toyota Tundra Owner: And you'll throw in that tailgate seal kit for the tailgate?

Peter: I will. Do you have the deck rail system in the bed?

Toyota Tundra Owner: Yeah, I do have deck rails.

Peter: Okay. So 2019 Tundra, six and a half foot bed, with the deck rail system.

Toyota Tundra Owner: When they call that a deck rail, they're talking about the tie down system and all that?

Peter: Yes.

Toyota Tundra Owner: Ok let's get this MX4 ordered

Peter: Ok I'll get this shipped out to you.
