Is There a Price Difference Between the BAKFlip F1 and the MX4?
Ram Owner: I talked to you earlier and you mentioned that BAKflip tonneau cover. I was looking at that MX4. What's the difference between the MX4 and F1? I have a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500.Peter: It's just the material they're made of. So the MX4 is aluminum and the F1 is a fiberglass reinforced polymer. So it, in theory, can stand up to denting a little bit better than the aluminum.
Ram Owner: Is there a price difference between the F1 and the MX4?Peter: Yeah about a $10 difference.
Ram Owner: Is that like a matte black finish or is that a shiny black finish?Peter: It's kind of in-between. I wouldn't call it a high gloss and it's not a matte. It's kind of in-between.
Ram Owner: Okay. Alrighty. Well, I'm going to try to go home tonight and I'm going to measure my truck bed. I think that's the route I'm going to go. I think I also want that Bed Tread Impact Mat. Unless there was another one there that you can tell me is any different or any better there.
Peter: I really like that one. I've sold a lot of them recently. I've had customers review it very highly, so I've got a lot of confidence in that one.
Ram Owner: Okay. So then I'm not really worried about the sides. I think it had like a carpet for the sides on one of them, but not really concerned about that. Just worried about the bed bottom there.Peter: Sure.
Ram Owner: Okay. Well, once again, I'll probably be getting back with you. You've been very helpful and explaining this stuff to me.Peter: Yeah, no problem.
What's the difference between the MX4 and the F1 for a 2019 Nissan Frontier?
Nissan Owner: Hi, Peter. You gave me a quote a couple of days ago on a BAKflip F1 tonneau cover.Peter: Okay. What truck was it for?
Nissan Owner: It was for a 2019 Nissan Frontier.Peter: Okay. Yep, and it's free shipping, and there's no sales tax if you're ordering from outside of Arizona.
Nissan Owner: Yep. And that'll fit my six-foot bed, correct?Peter: Yeah. What year was the Frontier?
Nissan Owner: 2019. Brand new.Peter: Okay. Yep, I've got it here. Perfect fit.
Nissan Owner: Okay. Question for you. Now, I have a ... I got a guy that deals with covers locally and I went and talked to him and he's got an MX4.Peter: Okay.
Nissan Owner: And he's pushing the G2 and the MX4.Peter: Okay.
Nissan Owner: And I'm like, "What's the difference between the MX4 and the F1?" I mean, I want, like, one of the better covers. I don't want something that's going to fall apart in three or four years, you know?Peter: So, the MX4 is a great cover, too. They're actually the same cover, except the F1 is made of the fiberglass reinforced polymer, which is their strongest material. So, it's going to hold up to denting things, stuff like that, better than the aluminum of the MX4.
Nissan Owner: Right, but is the polymer, is it just as strong as the aluminum and will it outlast everything?Peter: It's stronger than the aluminum. Yeah.
Nissan Owner: Is it? Okay. Okay. Yeah, okay. I've seen some good reviews about you online. I'd like to order that F1 for myself, please.Peter: Sure. Yeah. I'll get you going here. You'll get an email confirmation here in just a second, and then allow about five to seven days at the most for delivery on this.
Is it Common For a BAKFlip F1 to get Waterlogged?
Tonneau Covered Customer: I'm having a little trouble. I bought a BAKflip F1 from you guys on September 26, 2016. Apparently, it's gotten waterlogged or something because it weighs about a thousand pounds, I'm trying to open it. I called BAK Industries they said if I could find my receipt, they could replace it. But I can't seem to come up with my receipt, I'm hoping you guys can dig it up.
Peter: Okay. Yes I found it.
Tonneau Covered Customer: Could you email it for me?Peter: Yep, I'm going to do that right now.
Tonneau Covered Customer: Wonderful. Did you ever hear of that before, them getting waterlogged or something?Peter: Yeah, so what happens is kind of rare, but I have heard of it. The fiberglass would get a tiny, tiny little crack in it and then over time water can seep in and that can create that issue.
Tonneau Covered Customer: It's like every one of the panels.Peter: Yeah.
Tonneau Covered Customer: Can't flip the thing open, I had to have some people come in and help me.Peter: Well I'll send this over so you can get back to BAK and have it replaced under warranty.
What's the Best Tonneau Cover for Heavy Snow and Hail for a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro?
Tacoma Owner: I would like to order a couple things through you guys if I can, please.Peter: Sure, I can get you going here. What truck is it for?
Peter: Okay. What's the first item?
Tacoma Owner: This is for a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro, 5.2 inch bed.
Tacoma Owner: Well, I'd like to get a Bedrug for that vehicle, and that would be the complete Bedrug; I think it's BRY19DCK.Peter: I'll pull that up here.
Tacoma Owner: Okay. Just to make sure it fits, and that it's the right one.Peter: Okay the full liner, I've got it here. What's the next item?
Tacoma Owner: Well, this is where I need a little bit of professional advice, okay?Peter: Okay, sure.
Tacoma Owner: I'm looking at particularly the BakFlip F1, and I don't know if I want to go with the F1 or if I want to do the Undercover Ultra Flex. What is your opinion? We get heavy snow here, we get a lot of hail.Peter: I would definitely go with the F1. I really, I like the Ultra Flex cover, but it's aluminum, and when you're dealing with hail, it will dent. You'll get those little dimples. And the F1 holds up to hail so much better than the aluminum covers. So I think you're right where you want to be with the F1. And I can do that one with free shipping on everything, and there's no sales tax.
Tacoma Owner: Oh, that's fantastic. That is fantastic, thank you.
