Will a Retrax XR With Wide Rails Look Better on My 2018 Chevy Silverado Than Standard Rails?

Silverado Owner: Yeah, hi. I'm trying to buy a Retrax bed cover from you guys.

Shaun: Okay, did you want the aluminum version, or which one are you looking at?

Silverado Owner: The aluminum one, I have the part number, but I got two different part numbers, and I want to know which is the best one.

Shaun: What do you got man?

Silverado Owner: I got the 8461 and the 8471.

Shaun: Okay, so the 8461 is going to be the Retrax Pro MX, without the stake pocket holes.

Silverado Owner: Okay that's a bit weird. Oh you know what, it is the 460 I'm sorry, not the 461. That's got the cut out pockets right, the 460?

Shaun: Okay, yeah 460, the 460 does, and what did you say 471?

Silverado Owner: 471. Yes

Shaun: Yeah 471. It has the wide rails.

Silverado Owner: Oh, I see, but it doesn't have the cut out pockets?

Shaun: No, they are meant to cover the whole rail, so that way then, it takes away where its cut half way down the rail. But let me tell you about something real quick. What do you use your truck for?

Silverado Owner: I don't use it much, the truck most of the time its parked, but you know whenever I go somewhere everything should stay locked in place, you know what I mean?

Shaun: Well, let me ask you man. Do you use kayaks or surfboards or fishing poles or anything?

Silverado Owner: I don't, I don't use any of that stuff, I don't think I need cut out pockets.

Shaun: Well no. I was going to tell you that, you know, you're looking at the Retrax Pro, and I'm guessing the matte black version? But they have a new one that is the Retrax XR, and that one has different rails where it has a T slot in it. Right now they are giving away Yakima load bars. Um, I don't know if you have heard of Yakima?

Silverado Owner: You know what, I've seen them in pictures. Like, yeah. I think I know what you are talking about. But that price is a lot more, right?

Shaun: No, no, that's why I'm telling you because right now they are giving those away. That's $550 value, and the cover is only $100 more than the MX. They both come with a lifetime warranty.

Silverado Owner: Now I got three choices.

Shaun: Yeah, see, you thought I was trying to sell you, but I was looking out for you.

Silverado Owner: I didn't know about the wide rails. You think it would look better than the other ones?

Shaun: I think the covers are awesome I'll tell you that much, but as far as the wide rails go, yeah it would make it look more flush, more finished.

Silverado Owner: There we go, okay ... if it covers the whole thing, yes. What about price-wise, they are pretty much the same, right?

Shaun: What's the truck details?

Silverado Owner: It's a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a short bed

Shaun: It's just an extra 100 bucks for the wide rails.

Silverado Owner: Oh man that sounds pretty good.

Shaun: Yes sir, we actually order directly from them in North Dakota. They will build your cover to order, and they'll ship it out to you within 48 to 72 hours.

Silverado Owner: Okay, so you recommend the wide rails, right, they are better, they look better?

Shaun: Yeah, I think between that one and the standard rails they do look better because they fill more of your truck bed rails out. It looks better. It covers the stake pocket hole entirely. If you are never going to use it, you don't need it.

Silverado Owner: There we go. Okay. Well to order it, do I have to do it online, or how do I do this?

Shaun: You can call me or I can send you an order right now that will include a link that you can click whenever you are ready to purchase.

Silverado Owner: Go ahead and do that for me.

Shaun: All right man. It's on its way. Should you need anything else, let us know, or if you need any help let me know too.

Can I Use Tie-Down Cleats With a Tonneau Cover?

Tonneau Covered Customer: Yeah I just want to ask you is there tie-down cleats that come with this tonneau cover at all?

Peter: No.

Tonneau Covered Customer: So you can't have cleats or anything?

Peter: You might be able to use tie-down cleats, but the cover doesn't come with it.

Tonneau Covered Customer: Okay. If I cut out the stakeholders it won't leak anything will it? Because they're covered with those? I know that it comes without it so, it doesn't make any different does it?

Peter: No it doesn't.

Tonneau Covered Customer: Okay, so I can actually put cleats on the back, on the side ends? Is there enough room where the rails are to put them on?

Peter: I think you'd have to modify it yourself. At that point, I couldn't tell you for sure, unfortunately.

Tonneau Covered Customer: Oh, okay. Because I know that frame where the rail is comes over onto the stakeholder, right?

Peter: Right.

Tonneau Covered Customer: So, okay. So I can put probably some cleats where that cover is. You know, from the outside.

Peter: Right.

Tonneau Covered Customer: Okay. Appreciate it, thanks.

What's the Difference Between a Retrax Pro and a Retrax Pro XR for a 2019 Ford F-250 with an 8 foot bed?

Ford F250 Owner: Yeah, I'd like to discuss a Tonneau Cover.

Shawn: What kind of Tonneau Cover are you looking at?

Ford F250 Owner: The Retrax Pro.

Shawn: What kind of truck is it?

Ford F250 Owner: It's a 2019 Ford F-250 with an 8 foot bed.

Shawn: Okay, let's see here. So for the Pro MX in the Matte black, for the 8 foot bed ... Standard rails, or do you want the stake pocket cut outs?

Ford F250 Owner: Are the stake pocket cutouts the little holes in the truck?

Shawn: Yeah.

Ford F250 Owner: Yeah, let's do it with the cut outs.

Shawn: Okay. There's no tax outside of Arizona, and shipping is free.

Ford F250 Owner: Is there a cover that has rails on it, to where you can put bars on top?

Shawn: Yes, but the one I just quoted is not the one. I can get you the info on that one if you like.

Ford F250 Owner: I don't need the rails right now. I'm thinking that I may just want the one that has the ability to put the bars on there.

Shawn: Well, the cool thing is ... I think it's like $100 more and you get the rails, but right now they're running a promotion where you actually get the rails for free. But you won't have those cut outs, and it's called the Retrax Pro XR.

Ford F250 Owner: But it's the same color and all that?

Shawn: Correct.

Ford F250 Owner: The matte black aluminum supports the weight and all that? But it doesn't have cut outs. Why doesn't it have cut outs?

Shawn: Well, because of those rails. That T channel goes through the whole length of the rail, pretty much right where those cut outs would be. And you can't alter that. And the purpose for the cut outs, really, is for racks and things like that, so you're kind of replacing that with this.

Ford F250 Owner: Yeah. Okay. That's what I need to know. I appreciate it.

Shawn: You got it, my friend.

Ford F250 Owner: It's a good price. I just got to get my partner to approve it, but I'll be calling back.

Pro MX Price Difference for a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 When Opting for Stake Pocket Cutouts

Chevy Silverado Owner: I was inquiring online about Retrax bed covers, Tonneau covers, and I wanted to get a quote on one, and that, apparently, I've got to get over the phone.

Sean: Okay. What's the truck?

Chevy Silverado Owner: It's a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500. With the short bed; 6'6 bed.

Sean: You're looking at the Pro or the One?

Chevy Silverado Owner: Looking at the MX. I think.

Sean: The aluminum version?

Chevy Silverado Owner: Yeah the Pro MX. Do you have to specify whether you want the cutouts on the bed and all that? Does that matter in the price?

Sean: It does. Do you want something special there?

Chevy Silverado Owner: Well, no, I mean what I want is the one that has the cutouts for the little post holes in the bed.

Sean: The cutouts would be roughly an extra $60 and free shipping and no tax outside of Arizona.

Chevy Silverado Owner: Okay. You know, I think I want to order it.

Sean: Okay. Let's go ahead and do that.
