What Should I Know Before Installing an Undercover Ultra Flex on My 2017 Dodge Ram?

Dodge Ram Owner: I am interested in ordering a tonneau cover for a 2017 Dodge Ram with a 5 foot, seven inch bed.

Peter: Okay.

Dodge Ram Owner: I'm looking for the UnderCover Ultra Flex. I'm looking at the email that you sent back to me.

Peter: Okay. Yeah, I've got it. It's free shipping and there's no sales tax if you're ordering from outside of Arizona.

Dodge Ram Owner: Okay. That is the one that... Let me read the email, because you sent me this email a while back, like in December. Yeah, it goes five foot, seven inch UnderCover Ultra Flex. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the one. Okay, do you need my credit card or something for that?

Peter: Yeah. I can get you going here. I'm going to get this shipped out today.

Dodge Ram Owner: Okay. Is there anything I should know before I try to install the cover?

Peter: Yes, before you install it, just make sure that nothing was damaged in shipping.

Dodge Ram Owner: Okay. Is it common to find damage on a tonneau cover when it arrives?

Peter: It's really rare for that to happen, but it does happen occassionally. But if anything were damaged, don't install it. Just call me, we'll take care of it.

What Tonneau Cover Has The Best T-Slot Functionality for a Ford F-150?

Ford F-150 Owner: I was originally considering a RetraxPRO. However, the other cover I was looking at, and I know it can be a little bit of a pain if you go pick up something big and you don't think about it ahead of time, was the Undercover RIDGELANDER. Which basically would almost look like the Retrax on the car because it has the same T-Track System for rack assemblies. On the Undercover, how difficult is it to remove? I've been trying to find a video of somebody actually taking the cover off.

Shawn: I'll tell you that I actually worked for UnderCover for almost a decade. And they came out with that cover, and it's the biggest pain to remove. And it takes the longest to put it on. It's a beautiful cover, it works really well, strong, but it is not very friendly when it comes to removing it, unfortunately.

Ford F-150 Owner: Okay. Because I didn't know if there was like one bolt on each side, you undo that, and the thing just kind of slides off?

Shawn: What you're looking for then mainly is that T-slot functionality as well?

Ford F-150 Owner: That's kind of what I was looking at because we like to throw bikes up on top. I've got a cover that used to go on top of like a Suburban when they had it, one of the boxes. And having it on top if we've got stuff in the bottom and the top from that standpoint.

Shawn: Well you know they have a promotion right now on the Retrax XR?

Ford F-150 Owner: Correct that you get the free rails, which is like a $400 value?

Shawn: Have you seen the A.R.E "Double Cover?" What it is, is it's essentially a rolling cover and a one-piece all in one.

Ford F-150 Owner: I mean I've seen it. To me, that would almost be the worst of both worlds, because I think you're going to lose rigidity. Or you're going to have a bar that goes all the way across the tailgate. Because otherwise you've got two bars that are coming out with the cover. From a waterproofing standpoint, I don't think that would be worse than the Retrax or any of the other ones from that standpoint. Because you're dealing with multiple points of intrusion now that are not necessarily attached.

Shawn: Got you. Yeah.

Ford F-150 Owner: Now out of the rolling covers, you prefer the Retrax to the others?

Shawn: Yeah. It's a lot better quality than like a Roll-N-Lock or something of that nature.

Ford F-150 Owner: Or Pace Edwards or the Truck Covers USA.

Shawn: Right, exactly. Yeah.

Ford F-150 Owner: All right. You've answered all my questions. Thank you very much, sir.

Shawn: You got it. Did you want to go ahead and place that with me today?

Ford F-150 Owner: No. Let me talk to my wife tonight just to get everything approved. We've been talking about it, but I don't think it will be an issue. I'll give you a buzz tomorrow.

Shawn: It sounds good, man. Have a good night

Which Tonneau Cover is Aluminum & Water Resistant & Easy to Install on a GMC Sierra?

GMC Owner: Can you give me some info on the BAKFlip MX4?

Peter: Okay, what truck is it for?

GMC Owner: I have a 2019 Sierra GMC with a 5'8" bed.

Peter: I already emailed you a quote, and for you it's also free shipping and no sales tax.

GMC Owner: Okay, I also got a thing saying that you offer a free gift comes with it though.

Peter: Yes, it's a tailgate seal kit.

GMC Owner: Yeah. That's the cover I need correct? Is the BAKFlip MX4 the one that's aluminum with the grip edges that run down in the front that don't leak and all that stuff?

Peter: Right.

GMC Owner: Okay. It looks like a real good unit. I just bought this truck and I want to put something that's flush down in there. The MX4 is pretty easy to install, correct?

Peter: That's right.

GMC Owner: Okay. How do I get this thing, just going to put it on credit card?

Peter: Yeah. I can take care of it right now and then you're going to get a confirmation email after the purchase. Allow 5 to 7 days for delivery.

GMC Owner: Okay. You said you'll send me that free gift with this?

Peter: Yes, absolutely. Just so you know the tailgate seal kit is coming from our office in Arizona so it will arrive separately but you can install the cover before it arrives.

Do I Have to Wait for My Tailgate Seal Kit to Install My Tonneau Cover?

Tonneau Covered Customer: I received my tonneau cover and I was told the waterproof kit seal, or the tailgate seal kit, would be sent with my order and I didn't receive it.

Peter: It ships separately, and it comes from our office here in Arizona, so, let me pull it up here. So yeah, it's on the way, it comes US Postal Service.

Tonneau Covered Customer: Okay.

Peter: And so, you can install the cover first, that's fine, but yeah I see it here, it's on the way, but you're in New Jersey, so it's going to take a second.

Tonneau Covered Customer: Okay, so I don't have to wait for the tailgate seal kit to install my tonneau cover?

Peter: Correct. You can install the cover first and then just add the tailgate seal once it arrives.

Tonneau Covered Customer: Okay, thank you. The only thing that I find out was that when I install it, I have to pull the thing right on the edge in the front, because it seemed to be a half inch short at first.  But I think it will work out just fine. It looks nice.

Peter: Okay, great! Well that tailgate seal kit should be there soon.
