What's the Best Price on a Full Metal Jackrabbit Tonneau Cover for a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500?

Dodge Ram Owner: I received a couple emails from you regarding a tonneau cover. I just wanted to touch base with you on it. I had a couple of questions.

Tonneau Covered Agent: Sure. Which cover were we talking about?

Dodge Ram Owner: The Full Metal Jack Rabbit.

Tonneau Covered Agent: Okay. And what truck was it for?

Dodge Ram Owner: What I've got is a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab 6'4 bed.

Tonneau Covered Agent: Okay. All right. And what questions did you have?

Dodge Ram Owner: I want to make sure that cover is going to fit. And then also they have a couple of options for ladder racks or cargo racks depending on how you want to look at it. And I want to make sure that the one style, I think it's EL200 or EL2000, something like that, is going to fit with everything. So the tonneau cover has the, what do they call it, expedition rails or something like that?

Tonneau Covered Agent: The Explorer Rails.

Dodge Ram Owner: Yes, explorer rails. Yeah.

Tonneau Covered Agent: Okay. Did you have a part number for the rack?

Dodge Ram Owner: I believe the part number, hang on a second here. I believe the part number is EL200. Let me look that up real quick here. Yeah, the part number I have for that is EL as in Edward, Larry 200.

Tonneau Covered Agent: Okay. Who's the manufacturer of it? Do you know?

Dodge Ram Owner: Yeah, it's manufactured by Pace Edwards.

Tonneau Covered Agent: Okay. I'm not showing that I carry that. Unfortunately, I've got the cover, I do not have that rack system, unfortunately.

Dodge Ram Owner: Let me, let me verify a couple of things and then I will give you a call back cause that's a good price for the cover.

Tonneau Covered Agent: Yeah. Okay. Sounds good.

Is the BAKFlip MX4 Available for the New Body Style of the 2019 Dodge Ram?

Dodge Ram Owner: I've been going through emails with you on those tonneau covers.

Peter: Okay, what are you looking for?

Dodge Ram Owner: I've got a new Dodge Ram 1500, and I was looking at that, hang on one's here. The BAKFlip MX4.

Peter: Yep, is it the new body style?

Dodge Ram Owner: Yes. It is the new body style. Is the MX4 available for the new body style?

Peter: Yep! Okay, so 2019 Ram 1500, new body style. What's the bed in length?

Dodge Ram Owner: It's a 5'7" bed.

Peter: Okay, and do you have Ram boxes?

Dodge Ram Owner: Nope. No Ram Boxes.

Peter: Perfect. I can do free shipping and there's no sales tax if you're ordering from outside of Arizona. Did you want to get that ordered today?

Dodge Ram Owner: Yes I would.

Peter: All right. So allow about five to seven days for delivery of this. And you're gonna receive a email confirmation just a second here.

Dodge Ram Owner: Okay. I appreciate it.

BAKFlip MX4: Is The Truck Bed For the New 2019 Dodge Ram The Same as the 2018?

Dodge Ram Owner: I sent your website some info and you sent me a price back. I was wanting to order it.

Peter: Okay, I can get you going here. What truck was it for?

Dodge Ram Owner: It is the new 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 with a 6.4 bed without a RamBox.

Peter: Okay, and what item were we talking about?

Dodge Ram Owner: The BAKFlip MX4.

Peter: Okay, got it. I'll grab that part number here.

Dodge Ram Owner: Now the bed, I mean it's a brand new truck, but the bed is the same from the 2013 to 2018, correct?

Peter: Is it the new body style?

Dodge Ram Owner: Yeah, it's the new body style from the front of the cab up, but the cab back is basically the same. They have put different taillights and the tailgate's different, but the rest of it looks the same.

Peter: Got it.

Dodge Ram Owner: I'm pretty sure that's true, but maybe you might want to check with them, make sure it fits. But I'm pretty sure.

Peter: So I mean, they're not listing it for the 2500, only the 1500. I can't imagine that it's different, but...

Dodge Ram Owner: Is there any way I guess to call BAKFlip and see?

Peter: Yeah. Yeah. Let me give them a quick call just to make sure. One sec.

Dodge Ram Owner: Absolutely.

Peter: Okay. So the 2018 and the new 2019 are going to be the same. I just confirmed that with BAK.

Dodge Ram Owner: Okay, let's do it.

What's the Best Tonneau Cover for Heavy Snow and Hail for a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro?

Tacoma Owner: I would like to order a couple things through you guys if I can, please.

Peter: Sure, I can get you going here. What truck is it for?

Tacoma Owner: This is for a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro, 5.2 inch bed.

Peter: Okay. What's the first item?

Tacoma Owner: Well, I'd like to get a Bedrug for that vehicle, and that would be the complete Bedrug; I think it's BRY19DCK.

Peter: I'll pull that up here.

Tacoma Owner: Okay. Just to make sure it fits, and that it's the right one.

Peter: Okay the full liner, I've got it here. What's the next item?

Tacoma Owner: Well, this is where I need a little bit of professional advice, okay?

Peter: Okay, sure.

Tacoma Owner: I'm looking at particularly the BakFlip F1, and I don't know if I want to go with the F1 or if I want to do the Undercover Ultra Flex. What is your opinion? We get heavy snow here, we get a lot of hail.

Peter: I would definitely go with the F1. I really, I like the Ultra Flex cover, but it's aluminum, and when you're dealing with hail, it will dent. You'll get those little dimples. And the F1 holds up to hail so much better than the aluminum covers. So I think you're right where you want to be with the F1. And I can do that one with free shipping on everything, and there's no sales tax.

Tacoma Owner: Oh, that's fantastic. That is fantastic, thank you.

What's a Comparable Tonneau Cover to the BAKFlip MX4 for a GMC Sierra?

Sean: Hey. So I just got your email today. I was out after we spoke yesterday. You had a BAKFlip before. What kind of cover are you looking at? Are you looking at wanting to do a BAKFlip again or something comparable?

GMC Sierra Owner: I liked the BAKFlip. I just needed to fit. It seems like it's about a half inch too short. I've been working with James, and he's in the same email, and we tried a lot of different variables. I've tried to push it all the way up against the truck, like the directions call for, then it's a half an inch too short in the back. So I've got a gap that I could just about stick my pinky fingers through. If I try to split the difference and then it leaks on both hands and then I sit it the way it's supposed to at the tailgate. Then it doesn't have enough lip on the front and it's half inch too short up there so that leaks up there. So that's how we got to where we are.

Sean: Right. Let me see here. I think I sent an email about drilling some holes in the cover.

GMC Sierra Owner: I liked that actual style for it that flips. And that one holds like three or four hundred pounds distributed, and it doesn't fade because it's the poly stuff. I've read that the aluminum ones chip and then you can see the aluminum underneath. So that's the reason I was trying to get the poly or whatever you call it.

Sean: Did you get my email about drill some holes in it?

GMC Sierra Owner: Yeah, I figured that ... so they just want me to just randomly go through there and drill holes and then get rid of it and send pictures.

Sean: Yeah. Destroy the cover.

GMC Sierra Owner: That seems unfortunate.

Sean: I know man. I actually worked for Undercover, which is BAK's sister company. Just the whole process, getting them back, having people go through and make sure they're good, chances are they're going to be scratched. You know what I mean? It's just more work.

GMC Sierra Owner: I love the cover. I just don't want her to leak.

Sean: No, I know. Here's the tough part of the conversation here. So we tried the BAKFlip. You're set on that style I hear, because of the finish and because you feel it's going to be a better finish. I can't agree or disagree. I've never heard of the flaking problems that you're having and I worked for them, you know, so I, I've never seen that personally. It might be something new on the MX4. MX4 is kind of a new cover. I wasn't around the whole time during that.

GMC Sierra Owner: It's just what I've saw on the Internet.

Sean: Right, but what I was going to say is, I can get you the credit on this one as soon as you give me those field destroy pictures. And then what I'd honestly like to get you into is the Undercover Armor Flex. Unfortunately, it's a little bit more money.

GMC Sierra Owner: Tell me about it. What's it's specs?

Sean: Okay, so what it is, it's going to be the same exact look as your BAKFlip. The only difference is, it's got a five-year warranty because it's got Linex on top of the cover. So the cover looks just like your BAKFlip, but it's got that Linex coating. So you could take a key to it and go back and forth on your cover, you're not going to scratch it. It's something new they started doing. Like I said, five-year warranty. It looks exactly the same. The only difference is whenever you fold it all the way up, it stands in the 90 degree angle instead of leaning against your cab. So it does tend to block that third brake light on some vehicles. I'm not sure if it will on the new Sierra, but that's the only difference between the Undercover and the BAKFlip product, are those three things. The warranty, the finish and the functionality.

GMC Sierra Owner: What causes it to not lean against the back window? Because that one comes just underneath it. I have a camera near the third light. It's a digital LED camera that's in there. That's how I see out my back window.

Sean: Right. Well here's a little bit of inside knowledge. So an Undercover historically made a one piece ABS Tonneau cover, okay? We obviously realize that industry is going towards the folding. So what did we do? We saw BAKFlip and we said, okay, we're going to start making that. So the leaning against the window is something that was either patented or something of that nature to where we couldn't do that. So that's why it stands at a 90 degree angle. It's held by prop rods, and they work flawlessly. Again, I don't know how often you drive with it all the way up, and they are really easy to remove if you know you're going to be driving with it all the way up, if that's going to be a a common occurrence for you.

GMC Sierra Owner: What stops it from leaning forward to try to hit the window if you break or take off?

Sean: Well, I mean they've got the prop rod on either sideand they're quick release prop rods, but they've got like a ball stud in the rail and then a ball stud on the cover itself.

GMC Sierra Owner: Okay. And it's still basically three folding pieces. And what's the weight that it holds?

Sean: The weight on that one I believe is going to be the same as BAKFlip. They don't actually mention it here on their website unfortunately, but I believe it is four to 500 pounds evenly distributed, of course.

GMC Sierra Owner: Okay. And it says that it fits my truck and install the same way without me having to drill holes in my truck?

Sean: Yes sir.

GMC Sierra Owner: Okay, well I'll give it a try.

Are The AMP Power Running Boards Available For Chevy 3/4 Ton Truck With 8 Foot Bed?

Chevy: I'm interested in a Retrax cover for my 2019 Chevy 3/4 ton 3500. The Retrax covers are all metal, right?

Sean: Yeah, well it depends. You can either get the all metal one or you can get the polycarbonate one. The polycarbonate you're gonna save about $500 bucks, but with the all metal one you're gonna get a lifetime warranty.

Chevy Owner: So what's the polycarbonate is it just a different material then?

Sean: Yeah, its a polycarbonate. One sheet of plastic is essentially what it is. And then it's got aluminum rods every three inches, I believe, support rods.

Chevy Owner: Well I live where there's snow and ice so I'm thinking that Retrax cover could get jammed up pretty easy if you have an ice storm or a bunch of snow lands on top of it.

Sean: Well let me tell you this, man, you know where these things come from? Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Chevy Owner: Retrax? Really?

Sean: Yeah. So, they've had their testing. Let me look at the one, the polycarbonate one. And these are both matte black finish and this is with standard rails. Yeah, it looks like the only one they actually offer for the eight foot is the PRO so, if you wanted to go that route it would have to be the PRO.

Chevy Owner: How about a power running board? Are the AMP power running boards available for my truck? I have a crew cab

Sean: Running boards on that. Let me see. I'm assuming you want the plug and play. Yes, those are available for a Chevy 3/4 ton with an 8 foot bed.

Chevy Owner: If I do a package deal where I buy both, is it any better deal?

Sean: Which color are you thinking about?

Chevy Owner: Well that's the problem is I don't know which cover I'd go with yet. I don't think I'd go with an expensive one, I don't want to spend too much.

Sean: I hear yeah You know if you wanna buy em both, I'd knock $40 bucks off the entire deal.

Chevy Owner: Okay. Alright. Well, let me think about it. I'm going to research some more tonneau covers first.

Sean: Yep, and I'll actually email you this quote, so that way then if you decide you wanna go ahead and do it you can either email me back or you can actually proceed with purchasing it through the link.
