FAQ
Should I Purchase an Extang or a BAK Tonneau Cover for My GMC Sierra?
Peter: Looks like you were interested in the Extang Solid Fold. 2.0 for your new GMC Sierra?
GMC Sierra Owner: Yeah. You know I've been doing a little bit of research over the weekend too. It seems like that has a lot of bad reviews, like in terms of leaking. So is there one that you would suggest?Peter: The most popular ones are going to be the BAKFlip models. Those were designed with drain channels that lead to drain tubes that keep the water out of the bed. So it's just a different design and it's a little more water resistant for sure.
GMC Sierra Owner: Okay. Yeah. So when I was looking at those, cause I did, I started looking at some of those as well. What is the, I guess what's the advantage? I mean the other one seems to come off a lot easier. Right. But none of them seem to be real hard to take off.Peter: Right. So there are a couple of advantages. One, they sit flush inside the bed rail, so it's got a more low profile appearance than the Extang. It's also a trifold, but it can fold completely up out of the bed and secure behind the cab. So you have full bed access. So it's a much more versatile than the Extang.
GMC Sierra Owner: Now I saw, there's a couple of different models of those as well. Right. I thought I saw two different models.Peter: Yeah. The most popular by far is going to be the BAKFlip MX4.
GMC Sierra Owner: Okay.Peter: That one, it has a really nice matte black finish that people like as well. Anything you order will have free shipping and there's no sales tax.
GMC Sierra Owner: Okay. Now that one, in terms of I have the new body type, my truck's the new body type. Will it fit?Peter: Yes.
GMC Sierra Owner: I'll have to call back, but I have another question. How about like a bed rail for that truck? You carry those as well?Peter: A bedrail?
GMC Sierra Owner: Yes. I'm looking for the chrome bars, I usually call them bed rails, but I don't know what they referred to as. They're kind of like the tubular bars that would just go kind of north south on the back of the bed.Peter: Oh, got you. Yeah. You're going to have a few different options there. I know that Putco makes some. They kind of range in price, but I could get a couple of options ready for you.
GMC Sierra Owner: Oh, that'd be great. Yeah, that'd be great.Peter: Okay, no problem. I'll put that together and then we'll talk to you in a little bit.
GMC Sierra Owner: Yeah, if you give me a little bit, maybe towards mid afternoon, I'll give you a call back.- Aubrey Lovegrove

Best Low Profile Tonneau Cover for a Ford F350
Ford F-350 Owner: I have a Ford F350 which previously had a Truck Gear Tonneau cover that was just a roll up. I was looking for something that would be flat, that would get pretty much even with the bedrails themselves, and that would be retractable. I don't necessarily need power. Is there something like that?
Peter: Are you looking for retractable cover or another roll-up cover?Ford F-350 Owner: I can go either way. Retractable is nice where it just kind of shoves itself up, but whatever works I'm, happy with.
Peter: Okay. We're just talking about a huge difference in like price and quality when we're talking about a retractable and a roll up. The retractables are going to sit flush inside the bedrail, so it's not going to sit on top. Is this an eight foot bed?Ford F-350 Owner: It's a 6 and a half foot bed.
Peter: Okay.Ford F-350 Owner: It's the Super Crew, so it's not the full eight.
Peter: Okay, so I mean with retractables you're going to have a lot of different options ranging from from Roll N Lock to Retrax. I mean those can start anywhere from around $1200 and go up from there. It just depends on which model you're looking at. The soft roll up covers one like the TuxEdo Lo Pro, can start from anywhere between $270 and go up to maybe $500 or so.Ford F-350 Owner: Okay, well the one that I have cost me somewhere around the $500 range but it doesn't sit level with the bedrail. The Velcro attaching part of it is about an inch above the bedrail.
Peter: Right. So the TruxEdo Lo Pro sits pretty much flush inside the bedrail. It sits up maybe half an inch but it's very low profile. It's the most low profile soft roll up out there. Plus it's free shipping and no sales tax.Ford F-350 Owner: Okay, and is that fairly durable for the type that it is? Understanding that it doesn't lock but when I close the bedrail you can't just pull it open?
Peter: That's correct. And its very durable, it's got a lifetime warranty, so it's going to hold up well for years.Ford F-350 Owner: Does it have the clamps that go in along the inside of the bedrail?
Peter: Yes.Ford F-350 Owner: Okay. Now does it need a rubber seal anywhere around the front?
Peter: All of the appropriate gaskets are included.Ford F-350 Owner: Okay. And is this cover very simple to put together and install?
Peter: It is.Ford F-350 Owner: Well, let me get that information written down. I can give you a call back on this. How quick is the delivery on that if I choose to do that?
Peter: It's about five days.Ford F-350 Owner: Let me take a few minutes and compare tonneau covers and I'll decide what I want to do.
Peter: Sounds good.- Aubrey Lovegrove

Is the cost of a Truxedo TruXport lower for a Short Bed Than a Long Bed?
F-350 Owner: I spoke to you, I believe yesterday or the day before, about a Tonneau Cover. You had sent me a link where I could pay. The one thing that I noticed on the link is when I spoke to you and an email followed with a phone only tailgate seal.
Peter: Oh okay.F-350 Owner: And that tailgate seal's not on the invoice that you had emailed to me so I figured I'd call and order just to make sure I got everything.
Peter: Yeah, I remember you. Okay, it was a Truxedo TruXport, correct?F-350 Owner: Yep, 238601 was their part number for the TruXport.
Peter: That's it. Let me get the tailgate seal kit in here. The tailgate seal kit's going to come from our office here in Arizona. So it will arrive separately but I can get everything on the way. So you're wanting to place this order right now?F-350 Owner: Yes, I would. Can you help me place the order over the phone?
Peter: Okay. Everything looks good. Can you just confirm your truck?
F-350 Owner: 1995 Ford F-350 eight foot bed.
Peter: Perfect. Yeah so you're all set. Looks good.
F-350 Owner: Okay. Well thank you very much. Just on a side note, I also have '93 short bed. Would a tonneau cover for that be cheaper?
Peter: For the TruXport?
F-350 Owner: Yeah. I'm not going to order it today. I'm just curious on the cost for the TruXport on my other truck.
Peter: Yeah, the prices are always a little lower if you have a short bed instead of a long bed.
F-350 Owner: Okay, so if we decide to add one on that, I'll give you a call back on that then.
Peter: All right. Sounds good.
