Is the BAKFlip MX4 One of The Best Tonneau Covers on The Market for a 2019 Chevy El Dorado?

Chevy Owner: Hi, I'm inquiring about a tonneau cover for my truck. I just got your email with a price quote.

Peter: Okay, what truck is it for?

Chevy Owner: For a 2019 Chevy El Dorado. Crew cab with a short bed.

Peter: Okay, and which cover were we talking about?

Chevy Owner: So I'm looking for a hard cover tonneau, looking at some of the different ones you recommended. The BAKFlip?

Peter: Right.

Chevy Owner: The G2 or something?

Peter: Yep, that's a great cover.

Chevy Owner: That one or something similar to that. I like that one because it looks like it sits pretty flush compared to some of the other ones that you guys recommended.

Peter: It does. So the G2 is made of aluminum, it sits flush inside the bedrail. It's a tri-fold, but it can fold completely up out of the bed and secure behind the cab, so you have full use of your bed when you need to. So you've got a lot of versatility there. Peter: Yeah, that'd be the MX4. That one's made of a little bit tougher aluminum and it's got a three year warranty instead of a two year warranty.

Peter: Right.

Chevy Owner: But the mechanism and the folding versatility is pretty much the same?

What's the difference between the BAKFlip MX4 and the BAKFlip F1?

Dodge Ram Owner: What's the difference between the BAKFlip MX4 and the BAKFlip F1?

Peter: Just the material that they're made of. The MX4 is a aluminum and the F1 is a fiberglass reinforced polymer. That's the only difference there.

Dodge Ram Owner: So living in a hot state, is it better to do the fiber? Does that not get as hot?

Peter: Yeah, I'd go with the fiberglass. It's going to be less hot for sure. And it's more durable. It stands up to denting and stuff like that better than the aluminum of the MX4.

How Do I Get Replacement Parts for my BAKFlip MX4?

Tonneau Covered Customer: I ordered a BAKflip M4 from you and I got it. There's some parts missing that I need to see if you can get for me.

Peter: I'm really sorry about that. What was missing?

Tonneau Covered Customer: The buckle that goes on top. The little buckle clasp. There's two of them that when you open up the BAKflip when you don't open it all the way you can take your straps and click it right into that buckle clasp. I looked everywhere. I mean I tore the box open I don't know how many times. I got it all installed. I need to get those two.

Peter: We work directly with the manufacturer so your cover actually came directly from them. The fastest way to resolve this, and I think they even overnight them to you. Should I Purchase an Extang or a BAK Tonneau Cover for My GMC Sierra?

Peter: Looks like you were interested in the Extang Solid Fold. 2.0 for your new GMC Sierra?

GMC Sierra Owner: Yeah. You know I've been doing a little bit of research over the weekend too. It seems like that has a lot of bad reviews, like in terms of leaking. So is there one that you would suggest?

Peter: The most popular ones are going to be the BAKFlip models. Those were designed with drain channels that lead to drain tubes that keep the water out of the bed. So it's just a different design and it's a little more water resistant for sure.

GMC Sierra Owner: Okay. Yeah. So when I was looking at those, cause I did, I started looking at some of those as well. What is the, I guess what's the advantage? I mean the other one seems to come off a lot easier. Right. But none of them seem to be real hard to take off.

Peter: Right. So there are a couple of advantages. One, they sit flush inside the bed rail, so it's got a more low profile appearance than the Extang. It's also a trifold, but it can fold completely up out of the bed and secure behind the cab. So you have full bed access. So it's a much more versatile than the Extang.

GMC Sierra Owner: Now I saw, there's a couple of different models of those as well. Right. I thought I saw two different models.

Peter: Yeah. The most popular by far is going to be the BAKFlip MX4.

GMC Sierra Owner: Okay.

Peter: That one, it has a really nice matte black finish that people like as well. Anything you order will have free shipping and there's no sales tax.
