BAKFlip G2 vs MX4 Comparison. Which Should You Buy?

The BAKFlip MX4 features a matte black finish that matches many of your truck's OEM accessories including bed caps and tailgate caps.

Weight Capacity: The MX4 features a thicker 5/8 inch core than the G2 (1/2 inch) which results in a higher weight capacity on top of the cover (300lbs evenly distributed for the G2 and 400lbs evenly distributed for the MX4). In the real world, both covers have a high enough capacity that the extra strength really only matters if you have a specific purpose where you know you are going to be putting heavy things on top of your cover.

Biggest Differentiator

Tail Gate Seal Upgrade: The MX4 has a dual action seal that allows you to open and close the tailgate with the cover closed. The G2 has a seal that sits on top of the tailgate which means you will need to have the cover open when you close the tailgate for a proper seal. We always recommend the upgraded MX4 if you will be using your tailgate on an a daily basis for this reason. If you use your truck bed infrequently this may be a feature that is unnecessary to get. The tailgate seal on the G2 tonneau cover overlaps the top of your truck's tailgate, meaning you will need to close your tailgate with the cover open, then close the cover on top of it.

Warranty

MX4 Has a 3-year manufacturer warranty when purchased from TonneauCovered.com and the G2 has a 2-year manufacturer warranty against manufacturer defects. Both the MX4 & G2 have millions of road-tested miles under there belts and are well established to typically last well beyond their manufacturer warranties.
